SuperValu has over 230 stores throughout Ireland and is part of the Musgrave Group, Ireland’s largest grocery and food distributor.
Located on Main Street in Hacketstown, Co. Carlow, Bryne’s SuperValu store is at the heart of the community with a reputation for fresh food quality and friendly customer service.
Like many retailers operating in today’s business environment, SuperValu Hacketstown is faced with rising energy costs. Energy efficiency upgrades are a great way to shield a company’s bottom line from these rising energy costs, but many retailers do not know where to begin.
In August 2013, SuperValu Hacketstown was preparing an energy-saving revamp of its store. To evaluate the impact of this revamp, the store sought to have an accurate before-and-after picture of its energy-saving measures.
EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics provided an energy management solution that was used to identify the energy costs for significant electricity consumers within the store. This allowed for effective planning of energy-efficiency upgrade works.
These works focused heavily on refrigeration, including installing new AHT freezer units, new energy-efficient refrigeration packs, EC fans, LED canopy lights, and Weir glass. Existing light fittings in the store were also replaced with new energy-efficient LED light fittings.
The EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics solution enabled SuperValu Hacketstown to measure and verify the impact of their energy-efficiency works, helping the retailer reduce its electrical wastage and improve its energy efficiency.
SuperValu Hacketstown utilized the online EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics dashboard to track the cost-benefit of the energy efficiency upgrade work, both site-wide and at the electricity appliance level. The retailer successfully reduced energy wastage and improved the energy efficiency of equipment within the store, seeing energy use fall by as much as 65% for some lighting groups and close to 68% for refrigeration.
EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics provides accurate and actionable insights that empowered BEE to enhance energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and gain significant ROI for its clients.
Centra Campile used EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics™ (formerly Wattics) to identify energy costs for significant electricity consumers within the store, allowing for effective planning of energy-efficiency upgrade works.
