Garden Studios is a London-based B Corp™ certified startup film studio. They offer facilities for film, television, commercials, and music video shootings while also reselling utilities. This innovative studio turned to EnergyCAP for the efficient management of their energy usage.
Garden Studios implemented EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics™ (fka Wattics) to streamline and modernize their utility billing process. They efficiently mapped energy consumption, improved customer energy billing, and identified areas of energy waste, contributing to the studio’s sustainability goals.
Rich Phillips, CTO of Garden Studios, stated, “The traditional utility management at most studios is a very manual process. We knew that this could be done better.” The challenge for Garden Studios was to transition from manual energy usage tracking and billing towards a tech-forward solution, improving accuracy and reducing manual workload.
EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics was Garden Studio’s solution of choice. The simplicity and functionality enabled a seamless transition, aligning with Rich’s preference for web-hosted platforms from his previous roles in software development and product management.
Revealing EnergyCAP SmartAnalytic’s capabilities, Rich said, “It’s quite an advanced web platform for collecting data from utility providers, analyzing it, drawing insights and creating reports which we use for billing customers.” The platform met the studio’s needs in recording data, breaking it down, and generating bills for customers.
“Our main purpose of the platform is to bill accurately and recover our utility charges as much as we can,” mentioned Rich. By identifying wasteful energy consumption spots and alerting customers, significant savings were realized quickly. The software gave the team insights into energy waste, such as unnecessary outdoor lighting usage during off-hours, and provided the data needed to solve the problem. The platform’s intuitive dashboards and graphs played a crucial role in these successful outcomes. As Rich notes, “You’ll start finding savings very quickly.”
AFL transforms its sustainability by automating utility data management, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing energy-saving projects, resulting in $304,000 in annual savings, enhanced transparency, and strengthened sustainability credentials.
University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) identifies savings and builds a case for funding using utility bill, real-time, and carbon emissions data from EnergyCAP.
You cannot manage what you do not monitor; Ark Energy improves M&V audit accuracy and identification of over 7% in energy savings on a client retrofit project using EnergyCAP SmartAnalytics.
