City of Tampa Purchases EnergyCAP Utility Bill Management System
The City of Tampa has selected EnergyCAP energy management software as its new utility data management system. Through EnergyCAP, the City will achieve its city-wide sustainability goals including reducing energy costs, improving energy efficiency of City buildings, reporting the environmental impact of government operations, and reducing negative impacts through energy tracking and utility bill management.
The contract award concluded a year-long competitive bid process of proposal submissions and onsite interviews to identify the best software to meet the City’s requirements:
- One vendor-hosted system with online access for an unlimited number of users
- Ability to track 1,600 utility meters and add other meters in the future
- A library of reports that can be exported in multiple formats
- Ability to benchmark various facility types
- Electronic import of monthly utility bills via EDI
- Direct interface to ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager system
- Calculation of the City’s greenhouse gas emissions

The City owns more than 500 buildings that occupy more than 6.6 million square feet.
With this contract award, the City joins more than 40 organizations in Florida that already use EnergyCAP, including Miami-Dade County, Orange County, Charlotte County, University of Central Florida, and Valencia Community College.
